Walk through a Delirium Mirror in PoE 2 0.5.0 and the map stops being a normal clear. The fog rolls in, monsters hit harder, and your damage starts to feel a bit worse than it did ten seconds ago. That's the point. Delirium isn't only about killing more enemies for more loot; it's about knowing how much pressure your character can take before the run turns messy. Good gear, smart flasks, and steady upgrades matter here, so players often pay close attention to POE 2 Items before pushing deeper into fog-heavy maps.
Keep Moving or Get BuriedThe main trick with Delirium is momentum. You don't need to full-clear every corner. You don't need to chase one awkward rare into a dead-end room. You definitely don't need to stop for every small drop while the fog is still moving. Pick a route and keep it clean. Dense packs are worth your time. Stray enemies usually aren't. A strong Delirium run feels controlled, not frantic. You're moving, killing, checking the reward progress, and making quick calls. The moment you start arguing with the map, the mechanic starts winning.
Shards Are Choices, Not Free LootPurple Shards, Red Shards, and Fractured Mirrors are where a lot of players get baited. Purple Shards raise the danger but improve the payoff, so they're great when your build is already cutting through packs without panic. Red Shards throw you into a sealed fight, which sounds fun until your cooldowns are down and your recovery can't keep up. Fractured Mirrors add waves, and they're often worth touching if they sit naturally on your path. If you have to backtrack through bad terrain or stand still in a nasty spot, leave it. Greed is fine. Blind greed is expensive.
The Progression Has Teeth NowPatch 0.5.0 gives Delirium a clearer ladder. You start with Mirrors in maps, then work through shard choices and Fractured Mirrors. With enough progress, the Grand Mirror can appear and duplicate a boss encounter, which is a very different test from clearing packs in fog. After that, the Trial of Madness pushes you toward Simulacrum access, where 15 waves start stacking pressure in a way that exposes weak builds fast. Later progression can lead toward Raven's Shard and Tangmazu, where both the pinnacle fight and the reflected boss demand real damage and real defence.
Builds Need More Than SpeedA mapper that only moves fast may farm early fog just fine, but it can fall apart when bosses enter the picture. A boss killer with slow clear may survive big hits, yet lose Delirium value because it can't keep pace. The sweet spot is somewhere in the middle: enough area damage to clear packs, enough single-target to handle mirrors and bosses, and enough recovery to survive the ugly moments. If your character keeps hitting a wall, it may be smarter to adjust gems, defences, or buy POE 2 Items for key upgrades instead of forcing harder fog runs and hoping they somehow feel better.
