This Celeste quest sends you into Dam Battlegrounds to recover a missing helmet and return it to a memorial. Start the Quest With Celeste
Keeping the Memory is part of Celeste's quest progression. It becomes available after Straight Record and takes place on Dam Battlegrounds.
The mission has three objectives, and all of them are connected to the same location. You need to reach the wreckage in Formicai Hills, find the missing helmet, and return it to the nearby memorial.
Because the quest is intended to be completed in one round, it is worth planning your route before deploying. You do not need to bring a large amount of equipment because the mission does not ask you to defeat a boss or collect difficult resources.
Travel to Formicai Hills
After entering Dam Battlegrounds, make your way toward Formicai Hills. The specific destination is called Wreckage.
A large ruined ARC machine serves as the most obvious landmark. The machine is partially collapsed and stands out from the surrounding environment. Once you see it, you know that you are close to the quest objective.
The area may look quiet, but that does not mean you should completely ignore threats. Other players can still pass through the region, and ARC activity can make an otherwise simple mission unexpectedly dangerous.
For that reason, approach the wreckage carefully instead of running directly into the objective area.
Search the Area for the Helmet
The missing helmet is deliberately placed in an easy-to-overlook location. It is hidden around the vegetation near the wreckage rather than being displayed in an obvious container.
Pay attention to the small bush near the tree and the base of the ruined machine. Wires on the ground can also help you identify the correct area. Move around slowly until you see the interaction prompt.
This is the main reason players sometimes believe the quest is bugged. They may arrive at the correct wreckage but search the machine itself instead of checking the nearby bush.
Once the interaction appears, pick up the helmet.
Place It on the Memorial
With the helmet in your possession, turn toward the nearby memorial. The correct post has a blue holographic helmet prompt when you are close enough.
Interact with it to return the helmet and restore the memorial. After this interaction, the quest's objectives should be completed.
You do not need to transport the helmet across the entire map. The memorial is located very close to the place where you found it, so the final stage takes only a moment.
Should You Extract Immediately?
Completing the memorial interaction is the important part of the quest. Afterward, you can decide whether to leave the raid or continue exploring Dam Battlegrounds.
If you have already collected useful materials, extracting is usually the safer choice. There is little benefit in turning a completed quest into a failed raid by staying too long and taking unnecessary risks.
The area around the northeastern extraction routes can still contain threats, so plan your exit rather than assuming the mission is completely risk-free.
Keeping the Memory Rewards
The quest rewards five Simple Gun Parts, five Duct Tape, and five Magnets. These materials are modest but useful for crafting and inventory management.
More importantly, completing the mission advances Celeste's quest chain and contributes to the game's broader narrative. Keeping the Memory is a reminder that ARC Raiders is not exclusively about shooting and looting. The world contains stories about the people who came before, and small objectives like this help reveal that history.
Once you understand the route, Keeping the Memory becomes one of the easier quests to complete. Head to Wreckage, search the bush near the ruined machine, take the helmet to the memorial, and then extract if you want to secure the run.
